Waiting for Code Geass 2
While waiting for the second season, let me share some of my thoughts on Season 1 which is probably one of the best anime 2006 had to offer.
It’s not what I can call a unique series. The plot reminds me of the usual war themes in anime but the creators did quite well in presenting the story with all its socio-political elements, all revolving around very consistent characters. I particularly like how the sub-plots and characters are interlaced. The story is fast-paced but progression is smooth. It was exhilarating from its explosive start till the very end.
The ideological clash between Lelouch and Suzaku is a good concept and adds depth to the story. They both have their points and it’s hard to tell which is good or bad. Or perhaps it is not a question of good or bad in the first place. I’ll leave that to the philosophers.
The characters are beautiful; true to the CLAMP artwork (cute faces and seemingly wobbly limbs). I’m more interested in CC, the pretty and mysterious girl who likes pizza. I know a lot of things will be revealed about her. On another note, Geass actually reminds me of Gennouske’s ability in Basilisk – cool and devilish. The ending is a cliffhanger which is a fitting ending for the series in my opinion.
It’s an awesome series and I definitely want to see more.

I loved the first season but the only bad thing I can say about it is how people can’t guess who Zero is from the voice. It’s pretty lame actually and I wouldn’t have minded if they copied Death Note by changing Zero’s voice like L did with Light. Also, I think it’d be more interesting if Lelouch were up against someone who had the same level of intelligence as him, but a female which would surely make me more interested.

I liked season 1 a lot more than I expected to for the sheer fun and badassery that went on in it. S2 better not fuck up like many other anime sequels =_=

blissmo, yes that’s kinda funny nobody recognizes him, at one point I thought he was trying to modulate his voice behind that mask of his lol^^

Yes, I have high hopes too, but Suzaku really and I mean REALLY pisses me off. Everytime I look at him, I think “that guy from Cardcaptors and Tsubasa Chronicle”. Why oh why is he such a loser?

I know how you feel blissmo. We know that Suzaku advocates a more peaceful means but it’s really hard to figure out the true end he’s trying to achieve and how he’s gonna do it.

LOL! If Suzaku had looked a little different, I might not get so angry at him everytime he appears. Ah wells, I’m looking forward to seeing all the new characters.

I’m really looking forward to the 2nd season as well ^^ I thought the last couple of episodes of the 1st went a little out of hand, and I hope they won’t ruin it all in the next season…. but for now I’ll stay positive about it
